Boise

Boise, Idaho is a great place to live for many reasons. The city is located in the Treasure Valley, which is the fastest growing area in the United States. Boise’s population is less than 238,000 people, making it a small and charming city. The area is an outdoor lover’s dream, with high desert giving long hot summers, very little rain in the valley, and cold yet relatively dry winters. Bogus Basin Ski Resort is just 16 miles from downtown Boise, and in the summer, Lucky Peak Lake is perfect for boating, water skiing, and more! The area is also home to many parks and 35 plus miles of greenbelt, which is a walker’s/jogger’s/biker’s dream. The river runs through the city center, making it a perfect spot for a picnic or a stroll.

Boise’s economy is booming, and many small to medium tech companies have moved in. The State government believes in a conservative approach to rules and regulations. In Gov.Little’s first year as Idaho Governor, Idaho surpassed South Dakota and achieved the title of least regulated state in the country. Policies like these, and the fact that Idaho has to stay within its budget, is attracting many entrepreneurial spirited business’s, among others, to move here.

According to David Dixon, Stantec’s Urban Places Fellow and vice president and an expert in urban planning and design, Boise is doing much better than many downtowns across the country. There isn’t a glut of office space on the market here, which is a significant contrast to other cities projecting no new demand due to the shift to hybrid work. Downtown Boise’s office buildings are not only being constructed but also occupied, showcasing its robust economic performance. Idaho has taken the No. 1 spot for its economic growth, according to the 2021 U.S. News Best States rankings.

In summary, Boise is a great place to live with its low cost of living, beautiful scenery, and booming economy. The city’s appeal extends beyond just its economic growth. The city’s walkable, mixed-use environment with restaurants, cafes, breweries, and public spaces aligns with the preferences of the majority of new households. Boise’s population is growing, and many people are moving here from nearby states. It’s no wonder that Boise is becoming a popular destination for those looking for a great place to live.
